Why Coaching?
We’re passionate about helping you play better golf.
Every golfer enjoys the game more when they’re hitting good shots and playing well. This is our mission for you.
Think back to your last few rounds and try to pinpoint an area that cost you shots…
Maybe, you had too many three-putts as a result of poor distance control? Or did you miss too many fairways to the right meaning you had to chip out sideways? It could be that you play well in practice rounds with your friends but struggle to replicate that in competitions?
Through our experiences in the game and our PGA education, we appreciate that every golfer is different. That’s why we offer a range of lessons and packages to suit everyone.
Lessons will cover:
- Golf Fundamentals
- Swing Basics
- Short Game
- Long Game
- Course Management
Our Staff

Aaron Howard - Head PGA Professional
I am thrilled to join The Cambridgeshire Golf Club as Head Professional. Having grown up in Scotland, playing at Gleneagles, the St Andrews courses, and hidden gems such as Taymouth Castle, I reduced my handicap to plus one. I became Gleneagles Club Champion twice before turning professional. I originally moved to the Cambridge area with my wife in 2010. After competing on the EuroPro Tour, I achieved my PGA teaching qualification at Saffron Walden Golf Club. I spent ten successful years there as an assistant before moving on to become Head Professional at Cambridge Country Club. This journey has given me a wealth of experience drawn from a wide variety of clubs and environments. I have over 30 years’ experience studying under master professionals Pete Cowen and Butch Harmon. I enjoy competing in regional events alongside members and have a genuine passion for player improvement. For those with putting or equipment-related challenges, I am also a Level 2 CAPTO Master Putter Coach and a Club Master Fitter. My teaching philosophy is to keep the game as simple and accessible as possible. I aim to work within each player’s individual constraints, meeting their goals with minimal swing disruption. I am very proud to be part of the team at The Cambridgeshire Golf Club. The layout and condition of the course are excellent, and I believe the club has limitless potential. Whether it is playing, coaching, or club fitting, if you would like help or advice with any aspect of your game, please do not hesitate to contact me in the Pro Shop or via email at aaron.howard@cambridgebarhillhotel.co.uk.
Callum Jackson - Golf Team Member
Cambridgeshire born and bred, Callum’s passion for golf began at an early age before joining St Ives Golf Club as a junior. He became St Ives Men’s Club Gross Champion in 2021 and Net Champion in 2020, and is currently the youngest club member to have held both titles. Callum recently graduated from Tournament Golf College, where he studied for a BSc (Hons) in Tournament Golf over three years, alongside competing and developing his own playing performance. A talented below-scratch golfer, Callum is keen to take his game to the next level, with ambitions to compete on the European Tour. In the shorter term, he is targeting a successful and consistent campaign in events such as Open Qualifying, the Clutch Pro Tour, the Faldo Elite Tour, and regional and national amateur competitions. Callum believes golf should be accessible to all, regardless of ability or aspiration, and is always ready to offer guidance and advice across all aspects of the game, including equipment and clothing. He is equally happy to provide plenty of encouragement, along with the odd tip or two when requested. Callum looks forward to contributing to the continued success and development of The Cambridgeshire Golf Club and plans to begin his PGA Professional qualification in 2026, with a long-term aim of specialising in short game coaching.
